Irish Rural Link attended the Beyond NEET project seminar in Portugal, yesterday Tuesday 30th May. The seminar “Promoting social inclusion through volunteering”, took place in the Esmoriz Secondary School Library in the municipality of Ovar, Portugal and was hosted by the Portuguese partner of the project, Uniao das Mutualidades.
The seminar, which is the first of two seminars on the project presented the actions carried out and the results of the project. It also analysed the importance of volunteering to support social inclusion of young people.
Our CEO, Seamus Boland, Luís Alberto Silva Chairman of the Board of Directors of the União das Mutualidades Portuguesas; Luís Alves, Director of the Erasmus + Youth National Agency and Ana Cunha, Councilor for Social Development of the Municipality of Ovar Participated in the opening session of the seminar.
Irish Rural Link and The União das Mutualidades Portuguesas are Partners of the “Beyond NEET” project, within the scope of the “Erasmus +” programme, financed by the European Union.
The project intends to promote the inclusion of young people who do not study, work or are not in training, through volunteering and to train civil society organizations to work with this public. More details about the project are available here
